Imposter Syndrome Through the Lens of Horror
Imposter syndrome is often described as feeling like a fraud, but it can also appear as perfectionism, self sabotage, comparison, overcompensation, fear of being exposed, or the pressure to prove that you deserve your place.
In this interactive workshop, the Horror Community Foundation uses scenes from horror films to explore the many ways imposter syndrome can influence our identities, relationships, choices, and inner dialogue. Alongside a licensed mental health professional, we will examine what these characters are trying to protect, what their behavior may be communicating, and how fear and insecurity can manifest in ways that are not always easy to recognize.
Rather than bullying ourselves into believing we are worthy, this workshop invites us to choose a different route rooted in curiosity, reflection, and a more compassionate conversation with ourselves. Through film discussion, guided prompts, and a brief meditation, attendees will learn…
